Static Line is a classic rock band.  We draw instrumental influences from many bands of this era:  Van Halen (our idol), Iron Maiden, Yngwie Malmsteen, X Japan, Billy Joel, etc.  Since all of us have extensive musical backgrounds, we all put a lot of emphasis on intense, complex imstrumetal work.  Our style emulates that of the classic rock age:  two-hand tapping, strong, complex drum work, analog synthesizer sounds, and melodic basslines.
A Day In The Life
Static Line is not a true garage band - we meet in Rob's basement, where there's food and climate control, once a week.  Having recently performed our long-awaited "cover gig," the band is taking the summer off and hopes to return in mid-August to work on material that we are writing while everyone is out of town.
Static Line was started by Bram in early 2003 after he quit another band late in the previous year.  From the old band he invited Rob to play drums.  Dan was invited at about the same time.  After a long and fruitless search for a guitarist that included a jam session with Bram's brother, Ryan was brought onto the scene after Bram met him at a party with Dan and jammed for a bit.  But Bram's dream was not complete until a ritual watching of the greatest movie of all time:  Where Eagles Dare.  During one of the first scenes, Bram uttered the phrase "Static Line," noting the use of such a Line in the jump sequence.  "Hey, that'd be an awesome band name!" he exclaimed seconds later.  A nod from Ryan and a snore from Dan sealed the pact, and Static Line was born.
